What is Beauty
and Spirit Arts?

I started Beauty and Spirit Arts because I believe in the beauty, wonder and healing that comes from Nature. There is a healing, power, and awe that comes from being open to the spirit of Nature and the beauty found around us and in us, especially in the difficult times.

Ever since I was a child, Nature has been a sanctuary and respite for me. A place that brought wonder and awe to my spirit when I took the time to see. It is a place where I have felt most at peace and most like who I feel I am. I always felt wrapped up in a safe and warm blanket when I spent time with Nature. Whether I was seeing the awesome grace of a giraffe in the wilds of South Africa (a lifetime dream fulfilled!) to the treasuring of my natural surroundings wherever I may go and wherever I call home.

I have also been encouraged to continue to fight and heal through the words and writings of others. Many books and many quotes have helped me to “fight the good fight”, to feel understood or to help me laugh and remind me to see the beauty both in nature, in others, and yes, even in myself. Journaling has also been a balm to my spirit. These are some of those words.

Reaching out to people who may be struggling in order to bring them a little bit of beauty, connection, and hope is what Beauty and Spirit Arts is about.
I do this through nature photography, calligraphy, watercolor and heartfelt sayings or quotes.

In the dark times, as well as in the good and fun times, I want to share “Hope Inspired by Nature”, to encourage others to take a pause, to see the beauty, to experience a calm and peaceful spirit, and to experience a word of connection.

About Me

Nature, photography, calligraphy, art,
and reading, have been sources of inspiration, comfort, and connection for me ever since I was a little girl. Along with the love of my cats. These creative pieces of myself have helped me to express my inner world and to connect with the world around me in a way that brings hope.

I am a survivor of childhood sexual assault and I am still working on being a thriver. My battle with mental and spiritual challenges have been lifelong, but I keep going and I look for the “Glimmers of Good” amongst my tears.

I am a 5-year cancer-free fighter. However, I have been left with many health reminders of the fight, including Lymphedema, which I deal with one day at a time.

I want you to know that the words on my many of my pieces come from my heart and were originally a way to help myself in the dark days, as well as the days when I was truly happy to be alive or taking in the wonder and beauty of Nature.

I currently reside in Ephrata, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. My husband, Matt, and I have called Lancaster County our home for more than 30 years. I can't believe it! We have a fiesty tuxedo cat named Dash. He brings much laughter to the house. We also miss our two other cats, Fitz and Dreidel, who are remembered with tears and laughter. Friends and family (human and four-legged) are also a part of bringing Beauty and Spirit Arts to life.
